Either way, it’s time for another Glossybox review and I’m so excited to share this month’s goodies with you. This month’s theme is all about ditching those January blues and creating a new and revitalising beauty regime to prepare us for the year ahead! I couldn’t think of a better time of year to discover a handful of new beauty products. I’ve definitely been staying well within my comfort zone when it comes to my current skincare routine. It’s definitely time for a change! January’s box includes five amazing goodies, (four of which are full-size), to help us achieve that dreamy “no-makeup makeup look”.

Bybi – Strawberry Booster – RRP ยฃ12

I absolutely love using oils and serums so the Strawberry Booster from Bybi Beauty caught my eye straight away! Made from 100% Cold Pressed Strawberry Seed Oil, this product is the ultimate skin-softener. Rich in antioxidants and omega 3 and 6, it’s perfect for those with dry or flakey skin (especially if the winter weather has been treating you and your face poorly). It’s created from upcycled seeds from the juice industry – what an amazing concept! It smells very subtly of strawberries which is so refreshing in the morning. I was worried it would be greasy but my skin absorbs this stuff in no time at all. It leaves my face feeling SO soft and hydrated, I cannot get enough of it. I will definitely be repurchasing this product. Also a great tip is to add this to your moisturisers, serums or balms for an extra hydration hit!

Basic Beauty – Tweezers – RRP ยฃ15.50

Next up, we have some tweezers from Basic Beauty! I have to admit, I definitely don’t need another pair of tweezers but these are just so cute! I love the shape of them as it makes plucking ten times easier! The easy-grip design is great because there’s no way I want to slip up whilst performing brow surgery thank you very much. Also, they’re pink – what’s not to love?

ModelCo – Clear Brow Gel – RRP ยฃ14

I flipping love this brand! I religiously use their highlighters so I’m always keen to try anything else that they do. The Clear Brow Gel from ModelCo couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve literally just run out of my usual go to brow gel so I was really excited to put this to the test! It’s vegan and cruelty-free which is always a bonus. It’s designed to work alongside other brow products or on its own. I personally like to use a pomade so it’s been perfect for setting my brows in place after I’ve filled them in. It doesn’t leave them feeling crispy or rock hard either which is fabulous as I cannot stand that straw-like texture. It’s a yes from me!

Beauty Pro – CBD Oil Infused Mask – RRP ยฃ5.95

If you haven’t heard all of the hype for CBD oil products, where have you been because it sounds kinda peaceful there?! The Beauty Pro CBD Oil Infused Sheet Mask leaves skin feeling deeply hydrated and revitalised. It’s the perfect solution for those days where your skin looks and feels like it needs a real boost! Not only does it help to calm and soothe your complexion, but it also reduces the appearance of angry blemishes! It contains Lavender which makes it a great mask to use before bedtime! I will definitely be buying more of these, I absolutely loved it.

Context – Micro-derm Regenerator – RRP ยฃ6.50 (Full-Size Worth ยฃ27)

I didn’t actually know what this was until I gave the back of the product a good read. The Context Micro-Derm Regenerator is actually both a cleanser and exfoliator in one! It’s removes dead skin cells for a brighter and complexion as well as to protect it using key ingredients such as; macadamia, sunflower and Vitamins A, C and E. I’ve actually really enjoyed giving this a try. My skin feels much softer and it definitely looks brighter and clearer. However, I probably won’t repurchase this as it’s on the pricey side plus I actually have some great cleansers that cost much less. That being said, it’s still a great product and I’m glad that I had the opportunity to test it out.

Nakd Salted Caramel Fruit & Nut Bar

An extra treat was included in the January Glossybox. A delicious Salted Caramel Fruit & Nut Bar from Nakd! I literally ate this as soon as I’d got a photo of it. Self restraint…what’s that? It was delicious though and I will definitely be buying some more for the snack cupboard!

Iโ€™m so happy with the January Glossybox edit! It’s been a pretty tough start to the year for me, so receiving this box of goodies really cheered me up. We received four full-size products, a deluxe mini and an extra tasty treat too! I love the way that all of the products work well together, i.e. the tweezers and the brow gel or the oil, mask and cleanser. It’s the perfect self-care package, which I think lots of people need in January.

The total value of the products together, is ยฃ53.95, which is slightly less than last month but it’s still great value. It was great to have the opportunity to try out some products that I’d never seen before from some brands that I’d never heard of before. I will be repurchasing a couple of bits too. I flipping loved the oil and the face mask and I need more in stock ASAP! Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes? Let me know in the comments!

This month’s box is in collaboration with Rochelle Humes! This time we’re celebrating everything that makes us who we are, by embracing all of our flaws and imperfections. So, Rochelle decided to fill our January boxes with goodies that are tailored to our individual wants and needs! I’m not sure how this more personalised method of product selection actually took place, but I like the sound of it! Also, I thought that’s what Birchbox did anyway but either way, I’m keen to see what’s included in my box this month. I absolutely LOVE the design! The use of gold and marble together makes the box look so luxury! I will definitely be reusing this box to store makeup in. Letโ€™s take a look at whatโ€™s inside, shall we? RRPs correspond to full-size items at birchbox.co.uk/shop.

The Beauty Crop – Glow Milk in “Pear Pressure” – RRP ยฃ15

I seem to have a love-hate relationship with liquid highlighters. They’re either the perfect amount of dewy or they’re crusty and gross, there doesn’t seem to be an in between for me. I was really keen to put the Beauty Crop’s Glow Milk to the test. I abso-freaking-lutely LOVE this stuff. It’s so easy to create that effortless glow from within look, all you need is a couple of drops and voila! One thing that I really love about this product is that it’s very hydrating and doesn’t sit on the skin. It blends so beautifully with my foundation too! The packaging is gorgeous, I love the milk carton idea – so cute! I will definitely be buying another bottle of this.

Laura Geller – Eye Dew Crayon in “Pewter” – RRP ยฃ13

In all honesty, I haven’t had the best experience with eye crayons. The main reason being that they often end up sliding all over the place during the day and they crease (hell no). I tend to use eyeshadows or liquid shadows that I can confidently set in place and go about my day. However, I was still willing to give the Eye Dew Crayon from Laura Geller a go! After putting it to the test, I don’t think it’s for me. I blended it out across my lids and it pretty much vanished, I didn’t seem to be able to get much from it in the first place – even alongside a primer too! I noticed that it had started to crease within a couple of hours and I just can’t be having that. It’s such a shame because the colour looked quite pretty but I’m afraid it’s just not for me. That being said, I’ve actually found it to be a great eyeliner for along the lower lash-line!

Greenfrog Botanic – Argan Oil Body Lotion – RRP ยฃ9.95

I’m always after products that can keep my skin hydrated and moisturised and the Greenfrog Botanic Argain Oil Body Lotion has just become a new favourite of mine! Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever owned a moisturiser that smells quite as good as this stuff. I don’t feel sticky or greasy whatsoever after I’ve used it either, which is a big win for me as I absolutely hate that feeling. It’s made from 85% natural ingredients and the bottle itself is fully recyclable! I will be purchasing another bottle of this now that I know it exists – thank you Birchbox!

Skyn ICELAND – Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels – RRP ยฃ25

I nearly always wake up with puffy and irritated eyes in the morning so I love anything that’s designed to cool and soothe that area in particular. I’ve tried some products from Skyn ICELAND before and I’m yet to have a negative experience with them! Their Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels promise to “de-puff, brighten and counteract crepey skin” within 10 minutes! I can confirm that after using these bad boys, my eyes no longer felt puffy and scratchy, I felt refreshed and ready to go! I think I need a pack of these in my bedside table at all times!

Mรฉlusine – Jade Roller – RRP ยฃ15.50

I have wanted to try a facial roller for SO long but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend so much on something that might just turn out to be a pretty little gimmick. I was so excited to receive one in my January Birchbox as it finally gave me the opportunity to try one of these things out! The Mรฉlusine Jade Roller claims to tighten pores and boost radiance (both of which I could do with) whilst also improving the appearance of fine lines and reducing puffiness! I actually like to keep mine in the fridge so that it’s extra cool and refreshing when I use it first thing in the morning. It really preps my skin the day ahead and my makeup applies so much better now! I can’t say I’ve noticed a HUGE difference but it’s only been a week so I’ll be sure to keep you updated.

I’m actually pretty pleased with the January box. The design is gorgeous and the idea behind it is also an important one – especially with how miserable January can be for some (myself included)! It’s nice to be reminded that we’re pretty damn good as we are, imperfections included. Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the eye crayon, I loved all of the other products that I received in my January Birchbox! I was able to try new brands and new products that I’d never heard or seen before which is always good fun. I actually got to put ยฃ78.50 worth of products to the test, which is amazing value! Are you subscribed to Birchbox or any other beauty products? What did you think of this box and these products? Let me know in the comments!

TESTING PRIMARKโ€™S โ€“ โ€˜HYDRATEโ€™ SETTING SPRAY

Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! My review; “Testing Primark’s “Glow’ Setting Spray” has quickly become one of my most popular blog posts and so I figured I’d give the people what they want! Today, I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on their Hydrate setting spray. I’ve also reviewed their Nudes‘ makeup range if you’re interested in seeing how their makeup performs too…

Since I put the Primark Glow spray to the test, I am a setting spray convert. I never used to believe in them, I thought they were more of a gimmick than anything else. Since then, I haven’t gone a day (when I’m wearing makeup) without giving my mug a spritz. In this new range, there’s three sprays to choose from; glow, hydrate and matte. This time, we’re giving Hydrate a closer look!

According to Primark, Hydrate is a setting spray infused with Rose Water, Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera. I don’t have dry skin so I wouldn’t say I need a really intense hydrating setting spray in my life, but then again, I cannot stand when my makeup goes cakey or looks dull. This spray sounds like the perfect combination – it’s not too much, it’s just enough. It claims to hold your makeup in place, whilst leaving your skin looking refreshed and hydrated. It retails at ยฃ4 for a 110ml bottle, which is amazing value. Unlike when I use some high-end setting sprays, I won’t have to worry about using it on a daily basis, as it’s not expensive to repurchase and replace. Again, the packaging is really simple, this time the bottle is an aqua green. It’s not glitz and glam but I mean, it was only ยฃ4. It’s still serving me some NARS vibes with that font though.

So, what do I think? I LOVE it! Firstly, it dries pretty quickly and my skin doesn’t feel sticky or look too shiny. My makeup looks so much more fresh and flawless because I think it absorbs any excess powder and gives my face the hydration that it needs. It smells so good too! It smells like sugar and sweets which is a lot nicer than those sprays that smell like chemicals. A little goes a long way as a lot of product is released with each pump. You definitely won’t need heaps and heaps which makes it perfect for those mornings where you need to spritz and sprint! Also, this is the perfect spray for those days where the weather is particularly drying. If I have to brace the cold winds outside, I always make sure I have this spray on me to give myself a pick me up once I’m back inside! I reckon it will also be extremely refreshing on a really hot day too, especially if you’re feeling all clammy and flustered (we’ve all been there don’t judge). I’m so glad that I picked this spray up because it’s just amazing. I’m going to have to stock up on it before it gets discontinued (please god no) or people read this and go and buy it all…

I can no longer justify spending nearly ยฃ20 on a bottle of setting spray when this one, priced at only ยฃ4, ticks every box for me. If I didn’t know where it was from, I’d have guessed a high-end brand, never Primark! I’m so impressed with it. It’s totally worth giving it a try and if it’s not for you, don’t forget there’s also two other sprays in the range; glow and matte. If you’d like me to review the matte spray, let me know and I’ll test it out! What do you think of setting sprays? Do you have any favourites? Have you tried Primarkโ€™s new range? Let me know in the comments!

TESTING PRIMARK’S – ‘GLOW’ SETTING SPRAY

Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! I decided to treat myself to a mooch around my local Primark as it had been far too long and I was beginning to get withdrawal symptoms. Of course, I was met with fast fashion and the latest beauty trends at unbelievable prices, ah the wonderfully worrying world of “How did they produce this that quickly?” and “Why is everything so cheap?”. There’s nothing quite like it. Speaking of Primark Beauty, if you haven’t already read it, I reviewed their ‘Nudes’ makeup range a while ago, and people still seem to be enjoying it! Give it a read if you want to find out a bit more about Primark’s makeup – who knows, you might even need a new setting spray to keep it all in place…

Whilst rummaging through what was left of the makeup section following an arrival of several heavily made up little girls (I’m not sure how to feel about this, given their makeup looked better than I could ever aspire mine to be… SOS) I stumbled across a new range of prepping and setting sprays. I’ve always been a sceptic when it comes to these. They’ve always been raved about in the beauty community, Urban Decay’s “All-Nighter”, being one of the best (and most expensive) sellers. I was never sure if they were worth investing in so, I decided to take the plunge! There were a few to choose from, Matte, Hydrate and finally, the one I chose, Glow.

According to Primark, Glow is a setting spray, infused with Vitamin B5, illuminating pearls and Aloe Vera. I liked the sound of this because I tend to go for a dewy look, I’m not a matte kind of girl and this seemed to tick all of the boxes. Not only does it claim to hold makeup in place, but it leaves your skin looking fresh with a healthy and radiant glow. It retails at ยฃ4 for a 110ml bottle, which I think is incredible value! If this turns out to work as well as some of those high-end setting sprays on the market, I think Primark are onto something. Also, I wouldn’t have to worry about using it every day, as it’s cheap to replace and purchase on a regular basis. I actually really like the packaging too, it’s nothing out of the ordinary but for ยฃ4, I wasn’t expecting it to be made of gold either. I’m getting some NARS vibes with that font too- anyone else?

So, how well does it work? I swatched some eyeshadow on my hand and then gave it a spritz of Glow. Firstly, I noticed that it did take a while to dry – roughly two-three minutes and that’s with lots of wafting, fanning and blowing too. Once it had dried, it felt quite tacky on the skin which had me worried at first but after a while it felt smooth and almost like it wasn’t there at all. I tried to smudge my eyeshadow but it was going absolutely nowhere. The tiniest bit of product shifted but 99% of it remained exactly where I had put it. It also has a fresh and pleasant scent, I was kind of expecting to be knocked out by chemicals! Nobody wants to leave the house smelling like a scientific experiment so it’s nice that they’ve paid attention to this detail.

In all honesty, I wasn’t expecting it to be that good, and I have to admit, it’s giving the likes of Urban Decay a run for their money. I cannot recommend this setting spray enough, for the price, the look and the quality – it’s absolutely worth trying out. Don’t forget, if Glow doesn’t sound appealing to you, there’s two other sprays in the range. If you’d like me to review the others, let me know and I’ll test them out! What do you think of setting sprays? Do you have any favourites? Have you tried Primark’s new range? Let me know in the comments!

MY FAVOURITE FESTIVE LIPSTICKS

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day 1! I can’t believe we’re already here, it seems like yesterday that I was writing last year’s Blogmas content. I thought I would kick it all off with a post about my favourite lipsticks to wear over the festive period. It’s like I evolve from being nude and neutral-loving to dark and dramatic in the space of a season. I used to practically sprint away from anything red and now it’s a totally different story!

MAC – Retro

First up, we have Mac’s Retro. My dad actually bought me this one last Christmas! This tends to be my transition lipstick from Autumn to Winter. It’s a muted peachy-pinky brown so I’m still getting to wear something that I’m used to but at the same time it’s darker than my usual go-to shades. I love that it has a satin finish to it as it’s non-drying but still really pigmented. A cheaper dupe for this is Sephora’s Labyrinth City!

Illamasqua – Vixen

This is the beautiful Vixen in Illamasqua’s Lava Lips range! I originally picked it up because I was so intrigued by the marbled design however, upon trying it out, it quickly became one of my Winter favourites. The colours blend so well together to create a vibrant and intense pinky-red. It’s slightly different every time I use it and that’s why I love it! The finish, again, is satin, which keeps my lips feeling soft and moisturised. The packaging is also so sophisticated and sleek – I love everything about this lipstick! I can’t find any dupes for this as it’s just so unique!

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Rogue

Here we have one of Anastasia Beverly Hill’s matte lipsticks in the shade RogueIt’s a dark brownish red that fulfils all my festive lipstick desires! It has warm undertones, which is why I enjoy wearing it at this time of year. It may be frosty outside, but my lips will stay rosy for as long as possible thank you very much. Not only is it really pigmented, but it’s ultra-matte formula ensures that it stays on all day.

Urban Decay – Plaid

This is one of Urban Decay’s lipsticks from their Vice range in the shade Plaid. I chose it because at this time of year I can’t resist deep berry tones! It’s a cool pinky-red with  a sheer finish so it’s hydrating and always makes me look so healthy! Although the texture is quite thin, it’s still pigmented and it’s buildable if I ever wanted something slightly more intense.

MAC – Persistence

A Peachy cinnamon shade, absolutely perfect for this time of year! It’s also perfect for anyone that doesn’t want to wear anything really dark or dramatic. It has warm, reddish-orange undertones, so although it’s almost a brown, it’s actually really flattering on and I’m still staying within my comfort zone! I love a matte lip in Winter too, especially with the amount of hot chocolates I get through every day, I need something that doesn’t budge! However, it can be a tiny bit drying, so I always make sure my lips are moisturised before applying it.

I really hope that you enjoyed my first Blogmas post of 2018! My makeup routine completely changes over winter, so I’m always curious as to whether or not anyone else’s does too! Let me know in the comments what your winter beauty staples are! Tomorrow’s post is a HUGE gift guide that I’ve been working on for ages! I’ve included all kinds of bits and pieces to suit lots of different price ranges, so make sure you come back at 6pm to have a read!

MOPBOX: SEPTEMBER 2018 โ€“ LET IT GLOW*

Hey Guys,

How are you doing? I’m currently ignoring the fact that I need to be packing for a holiday that I’m going on in less than 24 hours. I’m going to Mallorca with my boyfriend and his best friends (another couple). We’ve only been on family holidays together so I’m excited to be going away with just him. I’ve also never been to Mallorca so I’m looking forward to exploring a new place. I plan on sunbathing as much as possible and topping up my tan so that during Autumn I don’t look like a ghost (although I could make that work for Halloween).

*Paid AD &ย Giftedย Items

This is a paid collaboration, however all opinions are my own!

Today’s post is another collaboration with MOPBOX, a new makeup-only subscription box, here in the UK! I’m a makeup addict so this is exactly the kind of subscription that I need in my life. Subscriptions are open on the first of every month and stay open until the 28th (unless the boxes all sell out) and your box is then shipped around the 30th viaย Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For postal service. You can choose from three different subscriptions; monthly, 3 months or 6 months.ย If you sign up for 3 or 6 months, you pay monthly with a saving, instead of an upfront payment, however, cancellation is at the end of your plan if you choose to subscribe to either one of these!

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

Each box features a stylised makeup-look to create and it also includes the makeup, tools and brushes to help you do it! Thereโ€™s also a magazine inside, with a step-by-step guide showing you exactly what to do. I think these boxes will be so inspiring for any budding makeup artists or for anyone looking to boost their confidence in order to express themselves through makeup!

HOW MUCH IS IT?

Monthly Subscription –ย ยฃ24/month

3 Month Subscription – ยฃ23/month

6 Month Subscription – ยฃ22/month

IS IT WORTH IT?

Last month’s box was amazing. I was extremely impressed with the products that were included. The sizes were all very generous and the brands were all great too. One of my pet peeves with most beauty subscription boxes is how reluctant most of them are to include decent sized products. I would happily pay more per month to receive normal sized beauty products than tiny little ones that I can’t really test properly. From what I’ve seen, the boxes from the last two months (August and September) are definitely worth the money.

This month’s theme is focused on creating a glowing makeup look – perfect for the last stretch of summer! I love using products that make my skin look radiant as I use lots of liquid products and I don’t really like to ย have a matte face. I am still haunted by the days where I wore so much powder that I probably looked like a cake (year 8 throwback).ย Just like last month, we received another lovely magazine which provides information about every product including their RRPs (I find this info helpful when working out if I am getting my money’s worth). There is also a step-by-step guide, teaching you how to create this month’s look, featuring tips and tricks from industry professionals!ย Just by flicking through the magazine, you can tell that that MOPBOX is different from the rest.

Phase Zero โ€“ Metal Foil Eyeshadow in “Gold Roses” โ€“ RRP ยฃ4.75

I practically jumped for joy when I discovered that this product was included in my September box. I love anything gold and when it comes to eyeshadow, it’s a staple in my makeup bag. I always go for a shimmery base, whether I wanted one or not, it just seems to happen every time. The texture of this foil shadow is difficult to explain. It reminds me of the Kylie Cosmetics Wet Set – it’s kind of springy and wet and it applies so smoothly as a result. Swatching it was a piece of cake as it’s so pigmented! I always worry with cream shadows whether or not they will take a lot of blending however this one takes seconds. The quicker you work, the easier that it blends out!ย It’s even better on the eyes as it stays put for hours when applied properly (using last month’s MOPBOX brush).ย Although we received it in a Summer box, it will be amazing to work with during Autumn with warm orange and red shades.

Elizabeth Arden – Maximum Volume Mascara in “Black 01” – RRP ยฃ22

I was shocked that they included such a high end product in this month’s box. The mascara itself nearly costs as much as the whole box – wow?! I’m always changing my mascaras up as I have extremely boring lashes that just go in a straight line unless forced (anyone else?). This product actually works for me which is very rare! I love how well it separates my lashes and makes them look much longer – another rare find for me! Normally I don’t like to spend too much on mascaras however this one is clearly worth the money.

Model Co – Highlighting Trio – ยฃ16

Well, you know me and my cream products – I’m obsessed! I just love radiant and glowing makeup looks and this is the kind of product that I search high and low for. The fact that three shades are included in one little pot is perfect for saving space in your makeup bag plus I can see myself using all three to contour, highlight and as a blusher too! The formula is so creamy and smooth, it’s so easy to apply over foundation and it also blends really easily too. I’m also a huge fan of Model Co’s products anyway so I knew that it was going to be good before I’d even opened it!

So Susan – Haute Light Pencil – RRP ยฃ15

Sometimes I find that using black eyeliner can just be too much and it makes me look terrifying. I’ve been looking for a good white or cream liner for ages to try and brighten my eyes instead and all of a sudden this one arrived! Last month we received a So Susan palette and it was great quality so I had my hopes up for this product. So far, it’s living up to my expectations and it’s been a staple in my makeup bag since I received it! I absolutely love it. Don’t worry about it being dramatic either, it’s very natural and creamy rather than white so you won’t look crazy.ย My eyes are the one thing that I actually like about my face so I love using products that enhance them and make them stand out more. This pencil is an absolute yes from me!

NYX – Lip Lingerie in “Bedtime Flirt” & “Push-Up” – RRP ยฃ7

I’ve been debating about buying these for such a long time. I’ve only heard good things but I just couldn’t make my mind up as there are so many shades available! I was so happy to receive these two minis in this month’s box as it gave me a chance to properly test them out. I tend to wear reds at this time of year but I wear nudes a lot too so I can definitely make these shades work! They swatched beautifully and they lasted a long time – I carried on with my day as usual and they were still there when I was getting into bed! I’m so impressed with the formula and the staying power! I love that we received two in this box as well!

Sunkissed – Hello Sunshine Powder – RRP ยฃ3.99

My skin is normally somewhere on the darker side of pale (not white and not quite olive) and I tan very easily so I always use warm shades when it comes to contouring or bronzing products. I just find that cool toned shades look awful on me! Typically, I also go for bronzers with a slight shimmer to them however this one is matte so I’m interested to see what I can do with it. Also, how generous is this pan? It’s HUGE! This is what I mean, you really do get your money’s worth with MOPBOX! Even though this bronzer only retails at a few pounds, it just goes to show that subscription boxes don’t always have to include sample sizes.

Bourjois – Khol and Contour 16hr Pencil – RRP ยฃ4.99

Although I mentioned previously that I don’t always like to use black eyeliners, when I need to add some drama to my makeup looks, this is the kind of product that I look for! I’ve always loved Bourjois (I’ve been using their foundation for over 7 years now) so I was keen to try this pencil out as I knew the quality would be good. I was right! It’s pigmented and easy to apply. It’s the kind of product that can turn any daytime look into a night-time look in seconds! When they say “16H” – they mean it! It’s so long-lasting and it’s smudge proof so whether you’re sobbing in the toilet with your pals or you’re dancing the night away on the sweaty dance floor, this pencil has got your back!

MOPBOX – Powder Brush – RRP ยฃ16

I just can’t get over the quality of the MOPBOX makeup brushes. This month we received a large powder brush – perfect for setting powder or bronzer! It’s so soft and you can tell that it’s high quality too just by the weight of it. I’m so impressed with this brush and I’ve been using last month’s almost every day, more than some of my high-end brushes! I’m really excited to see what other brushes we will receive!

Overall, this was another fantastic box. There isn’t a single thing I would change or improve here – everything is amazing. It’s very rare that I don’t have something negative to say about a subscription box as there’s usually something that doesn’t suit me etc. but in this case, I have nothing but praise! MOPBOX is just ticking every box for me. I understand that some of you may be thinking well if she’s being paid to write this post, she’s probably biased. Well if you’ve read my disclaimer page, I wouldn’t recommend anything to you unless I would buy it myself. So regardless of the fact that this is a collaboration, I would subscribe to MOPBOX anyway if I wasn’t working with them. If you’re looking for a new beauty subscription or you want to become more familiar with makeup and how to use it in different ways, this is definitely the box for you!ย What do you think of these products? Do you have any suggestions for how they could improve or anything that you really love? Let me know in the comments! Iโ€™ve included all of my social media below so be sure to come and say hey!

MAKEUP REVOLUTION – OPULENCE HIGHLIGHT COMPACT – REVIEW

Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! I’m all about keeping that summer glow going for as long as possible soย today I’m reviewing a particularly shimmeryย Makeup Revolution product! You may have noticed that I’m a huge fan of their brand and I love to talk about them here on my blog. You may have also noticed that each week they seem to be one step closer to drugstore domination and I’m so here for that.ย I love that they still follow all of the trends in the beauty community whilst every product affordable, high quality and inclusive of all different skin tones too. It’s refreshing to finally discover a brand that can offer all of those things without charging us a fortune! Are you a fan of Makeup Revolution? What would you like me to review next?

89AE2CE6-09B1-4828-A09A-5F4E2D9A58AE.JPG

Today I’m reviewing an exciting new product from Makeup Revolution. This is the Highlight Compact in their Opulence series! I chose this particular compact because I tend to suit more warm toned highlighters than the more cool toned ones. I was so excited when I saw these being teased on their social media channels! I’ve been using lots of their highlighters as part of my usual makeup routines so I had high hopes for this one. It retails at ยฃ8 and is available to purchase online as well as in a majority of Superdrug stores in the UK.

I think we’re all thinking it. Yep. Move aside Bobbi Brown, a new shimmer brick is in town.ย I know that they aren’t exactly the same, but the beautiful textures and the variety of shades packed inside a luxury little compact is pretty similar, right? Makeup Revolution describe it as a luxury highlighter compact without the expense so it seems like that’s what they’re getting at. If I can get my hands on something similar without having to break the bank – tell me more!

The packaging itself is gorgeous. The white and gold colour scheme looks so luxurious and expensive too! It definitely looks just as good as some of my high end products.ย It might be small but it contains four satin highlighter shades, great for anyone wanting to save some space in their makeup collection.ย You can either wear each shade separately or swirl your brush around the compact to create a glowing combo. I love that there’s a mirror too, which makes it a great product to travel with for on the go use!

Processed with VSCO with e1 preset

Processed with VSCO with e1 preset

So here we have the swatches. The pigmentation is amazing and whenย applied with a setting spray, they look even better. Depending on what look you’re going for, definitely keep that in mind as a little bit goes a very long way. I’m not sure how I feel about the texture of the highlighters. It’s difficult to put my finger on what it is exactly but she shades felt a bit powdery and chalky when I was swatching them. This could just be because they are so densely packed, so I’d recommend applying them a little bit at a time if you want to avoid any clumping on your cheek bones. That being said, this product is still amazing for the price. I actually use these as eyeshadows too. I’m used to a more powdery consistency when it comes to my eye makeup so I find that these work really well with some matte shades too.ย I’ve used them to create a halo eye look and I got so many compliments so I’d recommend using the compact as a 2 in 1!

Granted, it’s not the best highlighter that I’ve ever used, which funnily enough is from I Heart Revolution, but it’s still a great product.ย Despite my being picky about the texture of the shades, I have still been using it and I’ve figured ways around that. I apply the shades in small amounts, sometimes with my finger to make sure I have full control of what is going where. I use the products lightly to begin with and then I can increase the intensity if I wish.ย I also use the shades as eyeshadows which means I get maximum use out of the compact. The packaging is definitely a winner as it looks so luxury and expensive.ย This compact is also available as a blusher and an eyeshadow and both are equally as gorgeous! If you look closely at the eyeshadows, you’ll see what I mean by the textures of the highlighting compact. They’re both really similar which I’m assuming means they designed this range with multi-use in mind, or they just used the same formula across the board.

Let me know if you’d be interested in a review of the other two as I’d be more than happy to do that!

BIRCHBOX AUGUST 2018: ETSY โ€“ REVIEW

Hey Everyone,

Of course, I’m back with another Birchbox review! I really love writing these posts as it gives me a chance to zone out and talk about beauty products which is my favourite thing to do! I’ve been subscribed to Birchbox for such a long time that opening and reviewing their boxes is just part of my routine now! Are any of you subscribed to a beauty box? As usual, I’ve included lots of information below about what Birchbox offers etc. but if you’re just here for the review, keep scrolling!

Birchboxย isย a UK beauty subscription service that sends beauty boxes to their subscribers containing 5 goodies every month. You donโ€™t have to worry about lifelong commitments or any contracts, you can cancel anytimeย with a monthly subscription โ€“ no fuss whatsoever! The monthly subscription costs only ยฃ10 per month! You can edit your beauty profile on their site in order to ensure you get sent products that are suitable for your skin/hair type and personal preferences. Birchbox is so great for discovering new brands and products. I have been subscribed to Birchbox for over a year now and I look forward to receiving their boxes every month.ย Iโ€™ve gone on to buy lots of the things Iโ€™ve received because I have loved them so much. Every box you receive is beautifully packaged, some months are designed and inspired by artists and companies. I use some of the older boxes to store makeup in too as the designs are too pretty to throw away!

JPEG image-501F01E6AC83-9.jpeg

This month’s box is in collaboration with Etsy, the wonderful online marketplace for the creative community. I absolutely love buying my art supplies from Etsy, there’s such a vast range of things available and there’s something for every occasion! If you haven’t checked them out before, you’re missing out! Birchbox decided to feature ten Etsy sellers to create a selection of box designs for subscribers to receive. One of my favourite aspects of the makeup world is the packaging and I love when brands push the limits and create beautiful looking products. The box that I received was created by The Lovely Drawer (@thelovelydrawer) and it featuresย a beautiful eye-catching pattern. I love the combination of colours, it’s definitely a keeper!

Dirty Little Secret – Eye Shadow Crayon – Fetchย (full size) – RRP ยฃ10.50ย

I’ve actually tried out one of the Dirty Little Secret Lipsticks before and I really liked it so I recognised that polkadot pattern on the packaging straight away! I love cream shadows so a crayon is right up my street. I chose the shade “Fetch”ย as I tend to wear pinky-champagne style shimmer shades most of the time as I find them to be the most flattering on me! The great thing about crayon shadows is how easy they are to apply – one swipe and you’re good to go. I find that the creamier the product, the easier it is to blend, especially compared to powders, which comes in handy on those super busy mornings.ย My dad’s always referred to my makeup as “slap” (he has a way with words, right?) and for once it’s true, you could probably slap this crayon on and you’d come off looking great. I love that this product is multi-purpose as I’ve been using it as a highlighter too! It lasts ages and doesn’t crease whatsoever (one of my pet peeves).

CLฤ’ Cosmetics – Melting Lip Powder – Red Cherry (sample) – RRP ยฃ15

I’m all for original thinking and innovative ideas but this just seems a bit unnecessary to me. I put powder on my eyes, on my cheeks, on my brows but on my lips?! It’s a no from me. I just can’t see why I would opt for this when I could easily go for my usual lipstick formula that I know isn’t messy. The idea behind this product is that it melts from a powder into a matte lip tint. It’s waterproof, smudge-proof and it’s full of Vitamin E to keep your lips hydrated. It sounded great to me until I swatched it. The powder clumped up into little balls making it not only difficult to blend out but difficult to imagine on my lips. Don’t get me wrong, I am open minded about every product that I try, so I went into this hoping for the best, however it just didn’t work for me.ย It looked patchy and lumpy! After that experience, I certainly wouldn’t pay ยฃ15 for it.

Dr. Botanicals – Pomegranate Superfood (full size) – RRP ยฃ14.90

Most of us have seen some of the Dr Botanicals products floating around our Instagram feeds. If you haven’t heard of them, they’re a fantastic skincare brand that sell some of my favourite face masks! Whenever I’m trying to tackle spots and blemishes, I usually use a drying treatment which leaves my skin feeling like the Sahara desert – you can’t win can you? I use this mask whenever my skin needs a moisture boost and it works so well for me. It’s actually an overnight mask, so you can apply it before bed and whilst you sleep, it gets to work! I love the idea that there is minimal effort required. Sometimes when I apply a face mask, I’m already dreading the lengthy washing-off process, but this mask doesn’t require any effort until you wake up and even then it’s so quick and easy to remove. In fact, my skin usually absorbs every last drop so I rarely have anything to scrub off anyway! It’s so hydrating and refreshing, my skin completely transforms overnight. If I need my makeup to go particularly well, I always use this the night before as it prepares my skin perfectly! 10/10 would recommend!

Luseta Beauty – Keratin Smooth Conditioner (sample) – RRP ยฃ19

I’m awful with heat protection for my hair. I straighten my hair a lot and I occasionally remember to spray some protectant however it’s just so easy forget! I love that this nourishing conditioner can easily become part of my haircare routine. It repairs and strengthens damaged hair and it only takes a couple of minutes for it to get to work! I use this straight after shampooing my hair and I leave it to sit for a while before rinsing it off. My hair feels so soft and silky afterwards – I love it! I’m definitely going to invest in the full sized version of this product.

F5579681-7AC8-4590-9B6B-927CD4D2917A.JPG

Rituals – Happy Buddha Foaming Shower Gel – RRP ยฃ8.50

I’ve heard so much about Rituals however I had never tried any of their products until I received this one! I love foaming products for the shower as it just makes life so much easier and it leaves my skin feeling so squeaky clean and soft. This shower gel is fragranced with sweet orange and cedar wood which smells SO GOOD! It takes minimal effort for the gel to transform into a foam so don’t worry about standing there and trying to work it into a lather for ages. I will probably be purchasing the full sized version of this product too! I can see myself using this every day, as I love the scent and the way it makes my skin feel.

I really liked this box! I think it was great value for money and I will use most of the products on a regular basis. Yes, the lip powder isn’t for me, however when I subscribed to Birchbox, I knew I wouldn’t always receive products that I loved! If it was a whole box of products that I disliked, I’d be less lenient but one or two every now and again is fine with me. The products inside the August box, together, are worth a whopping ยฃ67.90 and considering that the subscription costs ยฃ10 plus ยฃ2.95 P&P per month, that’s such good value. I never feel like Birchbox are being stingy when it comes to products, which is why I’m still subscribed years later! Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes? Which is your favourite?

BIRCHBOX JULY 2018: SAY YES TO ADVENTURE – REVIEW

Hey Everyone,

I’m back! I’ve been very busy recently as I’m committed to jury service (last week and this week) so I haven’t been able to post as frequently as I’d like to. I hope you can bear with me as I’m doing my best to keep up with everything! I post regularly on my instagram (pretty much every day) so go ahead and give me a follow as I’m always active over there – @ninalouiselaw. Today, I’m unboxing and reviewing the July Birchbox! I love these posts because discovering new beauty products is my favourite thing to do and I know lots of you enjoy doing that too! This month’s box is absolutely beautiful! Instead of the usual drawer-like boxes that we receive, this one came with a lid which I love as I can use it as storage in my bedroom! I love the abstract watercolour design too, it’s so pretty and summery. It also happens to match the colours in my room too so I’m very happy about this!

This month is all about being bold and trying something new – which I am all for! I really enjoy stepping outside my beauty comfort zone and experimenting with new products. This month I’ve been pushing myself in all kinds of ways, whether that’s academically, with my blog, with my makeup or with my anxiety, so this box came at a great time! As usual, we were sent a variety of products including skincare and cosmetics.

Manna Kadar – Long-Wear Powder “Trifecta” – ยฃ15

I’ve mentioned before that I have received lots of Manna Kadar products and I love all of them! They have a lot of multi-tasking products that often come as a “2-in-1” or a “3-in-1” which I absolutely LOVE. It means you can carry less makeup and still have everything you need at the same time. This powder is a 3-in-1 brow, eye and cheek product (wow, as it can act as a bronzer, eyeshadow or brow filler. I was so surprised at how buttery and smooth it felt when I was swatching it – it was so easy to apply. I love that it adds a pop of colour wherever I need it which is perfect for the summery warm makeup looks I like to create at this time of year!

Browcote – Waterproof Brow Gel – ยฃ6.99

I’ve been using a lot more brow products to get the look that I want and recently, I’ve been investing in brow gels and brow mascaras! I really like how they can make it look as if you have nothing in your brows and it’s also so much quicker to do if you’re in a hurry. This award-winning brow gel keeps your brows in place all day as well as being waterproof! One of my pet peeves is a brow gel that leaves your brows feeling cripsy and crunchy and you’ll be pleased to know that this one doesn’t do that!ย It doesn’t clump up any powder or pencil that I’ve used before it either.

What’s in it for Me? – Shower Scrub – ยฃ7

I’m a shower girl when it comes to summer so I’m always looking for scrubs to keep my skin smooth and exfoliated! This scrub smells incredible! It features walnut shell, almond oil, orange and jasmine flower extracts – WOW. It’s such an uplifting and energising scent, it’s perfect for those early morning showers to wake you up. I love using this before I go in the sun, to scrub away any dead skin cells so that my tan can sit on fresh skin plus this will make it last longer!

Merci Hand – Hand Cream in ‘Cherie Cherry’ย – ยฃ4.90

This packaging is so dreamy! It reminds me of a lollipop or an old fashioned diner – not sure if anyone will know what I mean by that?! I absolutely love having a tube of hand cream in my bag at all times and I get through lots of them throughout the year. The first thing I noticed about this product was the amazing scent – it’s honestly divine. It’s the perfect fruity floral fragrance for summer! I also noticed how quickly it skins in, as I hate hand creams that leave a sticky residue behind and this one doesn’t! I really recommend getting one of those for on-the-go moisturising, plus it’s currently on sale and it’s going for ยฃ1.96!

Balance Me – Congested Skin Serum – ยฃ16

This is my favourite product in the July box! I love skincare but particularly things that keep my skin clear and blemish free! I’ve used some of Balance Me’s cleansers and face washes before and they are fantastic. This serum contains Chamomile, anti-bacterial may chang, calming lavender and eucalyptus which together, make the ultimate spot-fighting team. It smells like one of those really expensive and luxury spa treatments! It’s also non-drying which is great as that’s quite common when it comes to spot treating skincare. Another product that I really recommend!

I was really pleased with this monthโ€™s box and I know that Iโ€™ll be using all of these products over the summer period. As usual, all of the products are fantastic quality as well as some being award-winning!ย Iโ€™ll definitely be keeping the beautiful little box to keep bits an pieces in! What do you think of this box? Would you be happy with it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments as usual, I love to hear from you! Iโ€™ve linked all my social media below so come and say hi!

MAKEUP REVOLUTION: STROBE LIGHTING PALETTE REVIEW

Hey Everyone,

Of course, I’m back with another Makeup Revolution review! Superdrug* currently have an offer that involves spending ยฃ12 to get yourself one of these palettes and that wasn’t an issue given that I’m always looking for an excuse to buy more of their products. I’ll be reviewing some of the other bits that I bought soon, so keep your eyes peeled for those!

C3ABED26-9B90-404B-A551-EBB2E1428925.JPG

0CDFC062-A9FE-493B-B15A-A5E510B480CE.JPG

So, this palette usually retails at ยฃ8.00 (which I think is incredible value given that three highlighters are included) and it comes inside a beautiful rose gold lidded case and if you know me, you’ll know I’m a sucker for anything that looks like this! Also, any bloggers out there, how blooming difficult is it to get a photo of something (from above) that is reflective or mirror-like?! It took me a solid ten minutes to get a shot without my little potato head creeping in.

505CF2BA-2458-4792-A242-D3285097A540.JPG

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

The palette contains three highlighting powders, all different shades (one for every occasion) and the pans are super generously sized! I love the ripple effect on the highlighters too as it definitely makes it look like a luxury product. Recently, I’ve started branching out from my usual caramel toned highlighters and I’ve been using some more pinky-toned ones as well as the good old iridescent kind so I knew I would use all three of these! As you can see, this palette contains all three and I’ve managed to use them all too.

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

First up is the bright white shade, which is absolutely stunning! I used to be so scared to use these shades because I thought they were too intense but this one is just so pearly and beautiful I can’t resist! It also has a pale-green shift to it which really does make my cheek bones pop. Secondly, there’s a gorgeous gold/cream highlighter which is right up my street. I tend to go for these champagne shades the most as they seem to compliment my skintone more than others do. This shade adds a subtle glow and gold shimmer to the cheeks without being too blinding. They’re also perfect for warm, summery makeup looks too, so I’ll definitely be using this one over the next few months! Finally we have a pinkhighlighter. It adds the prettiest glow to the cheeks without being too over the top and it definitely makes me look so much healthier and energised.

The white highlighter is definitely the most pigmented, whereas the other two are slightly more subtle and they blend out to be quite sheer. That being said, all of the highlighters are buildable so you can adjust them to whatever intensity that you’re going for.

In conclusion, this palette is definitely worth the money. It contains 3 strobe highlighters, in a rose gold case with a HUGE mirror – what more could you want? All three of the products are super easy to use, you simply have to sweep your brush over the pans and apply it to any areas that you want to highlight for a beautiful glow! There are definitely more pigmented highlighters out there but that’s not necessarily what I always want to use, so this palete is perfect for my everyday makeup looks. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that loves highlighters but doesn’t want to glow like a lightbulb on a daily basis! I hope you enjoyed this review, do let me know if you’ve tried this palette or if you have any recommendations for me to try out! Don’t forget to follow me on my socials which I’ve linked below, so come and say hi!

NATURAL COLLECTION MAKEUP REVIEW

Hey Guys,

Today I’m reviewing some of the products within the Natural Collection range! I have such a soft spot for this brand as it was the only makeup I used when I was younger. It was actually the first brand that I ever tried!ย I started wearing very very light makeup (we’re talking basically might as well not be on my face) when I was about 12 for discos and parties. My mum would apply it and she would often use their lip glosses and lipsticks on me when we went on holiday so I could feel dressy and grown-up (lol) and soย I thought I would relive some of my fond memories and also see what they currently have to offer!

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Whilst I was visiting Bath with my boyfriend (click to read my post about our trip here), I managed to pick up these bits and pieces from the range! I love the simplistic packaging – it kind of gives me Topshop Makeup vibes what with the capital letters and the plain colours (love it). I tried to grab a good variety of products whilst also getting things I know that I will use so I hope this gives you some idea of what to expect from Natural Collection.

BRONZING POWDER – GOLDEN GLOW* – ยฃ1.99

First up is their Bronzing powder! It’s a lightly tinted powder with a subtle shimmer which I actually really like as I think it makes me look healthier. I tend to go for shimmery products when the sun starts to come out because when they catch the light it can look so pretty and they give off a gorgeous natural glow. This isn’t the most pigmented bronzer in the world and I wouldn’t expect it to be however I think I actually prefer that as it’s not too intense and it makes it easier to build up. It’s also enriched with camomile to help soothe and protect!

POWDER BLUSHER – PEACH MELBA* – ยฃ1.99

I love a good peachy blusher and this ticks all the right boxes! It gives a subtle hint of colour to my skin and isn’t too intense so it’s perfect for more natural looks. It’s super easy to blend and build up (if necessary) as well. I love how delicate and subtle it is and I cannot wait to use it during Summer. It also contains camomile to help sooth and protect your skin.

TINTED LIP BALM – CRANBERRY KISS

I’ve been using these glosses for YEARS now and I honestly think they’re fab. I very rarely wear glosses as I prefer a matte look but whenever I need some extra moisture, I turn to these straight away! This was actually the first shade of their tinted lip balms that I ever used and I love the subtle pop of pink that it gives my lips. If you’re looking for something lightweight and really subtle, I’d definitely recommend trying these out!

LIQUID EYELINER – BLACK MATTE* – ยฃ2.49

I tend to go through phases of wearing liquid eyeliner. Recently I’ve been loving a more natural look but I know there will come a time when I need that extra something to make my eyes pop! When it comes to eyeliners, I like something that is really easy to apply and allows me to be really precise when I want to do a winged look. The brush is so tiny it’s perfect! I love using this to perfect my wings and also it’s smudge proof so what more could you want?

BLUSH AND GLOW – BRONZE* – ยฃ2.49

I really wanted to try this because anything compact that has multiple products in is just such a winner in my eyes. I love being able to carry less and more at the same time! This little due contains a silky matte bronzer as well as a shimmering highlighter to give you a pop of colour and glow when you need it! The bronzer was much more pigmented than I expected but it’s definitely not too intense and can be built up if necessary. The highlighter was really pigmented however and it creates a lovely and natural looking shimmer to my complexion. For less than ยฃ3 you can’t go wrong really!

TINTED LIP BALM – CARIBBEAN CRUSH

Unfortunately I can’t find links for either of the lip balms but I’m sure they still have them in store! I love using this shade to add a coral/nude gloss to my lips – particularly when I don’t fancy having anything intense or pigmented. Plus, they feel so nice and moisturising too so they’re lovely when you have dry lips that need repairing!

Overall, I actually really like these products. I like that they’re very focused on a natural look which is pretty hard to find these days. I also like that the packaging is simplistic and not too cluttered. I really like Natural Collection anyway because they offer such fantastic products for extremely good prices and it’s perfect for those that don’t want to pay ridiculous amounts of money for some good makeup. They also offer lots of shades, which means there are lots of options when choosing what would suit you best. I would really recommend trying these products – and the rest of the range, out! Don’t forget to follow me on my social media which I’ve linked below as I’d love it if you came and said hi!

MAKEUP REVOLUTION – FAST BASE FOUNDATION STICK REVIEW, PHOTOS & SWATCHES

Hey Guys,

I’m back with another review! This time, we’re taking a look at possibly one of the most talked about makeup products right now. I decided to take the plunge and raid the Makeup Revolution counter at my local Superdrug store. They’re newer products are usually sold out everywhere which drives me nuts because I’ve been desperate to get my hands on one of these for a few months now! A fellow blogging pal of mine (Becca – check out her blog here) tweeted about doing a massive Makeup Revolution order and it made me bite the bullet and risk heading into Superdrug for another hunt for this product and thank god I did butย Becca, I blame you if I end up buying the whole bloomin’ range.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION FAST BASE FOUNDATION STICK

Today I’m reviewing the Fast Base Foundation Stick*ย so let’s get into it. The packaging immediately pulled me in! This was always a given, as I’m a sucker for anything rose gold (it’s an addiction, a problem in-fact). The packaging is a gorgeous matte, nude colour – very similar, if not identical, to the Soph X palette (read my review here). The full range offers a whopping 18 shades and I hear that they are planning to expand this even further. It’s about time brands started doing this!

MAKEUP REVOLUTION FAST BASE FOUNDATION STICK

I absolutely love that you can apply exactly the amount you need and the texture of it is goes on like a dream, it practically melts into the skin.ย I’ve always preferred a dewy finish to my foundation and this gave me exactly what I was looking for! I was a bit skeptical about the whole stick situation but it’s really surprised me. It’s so precise and it means that I don’t waste a lot of product, especially if it becomes an everyday foundation.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION FAST BASE FOUNDATION STICK

I have fairly yellow-toned skin and let me tell you, it’s a nightmare trying to find the right shade of any foundation/concealer. Once I find something that works, I’m always nervous ย about trying anything else as it’s so hard to find something to suit my skin tone. So I picked the shade F6 as this seemed pretty much perfect for me. It’s slightly too dark but honestly it blends out so well I can barely notice and nobody else has either! Swatching this was the first time I used the product and I was so shocked at just how creamy and smooth it felt on my skin! I didn’t have to desperately drag the stick around whatsoever, it was super easy! I blend it out with a beauty blender but sometimes I use a brush first to spread the product out a bit. I was left with a beautifully dewy finish which is always something I look for in foundations. It made me look healthy and energised and if that’s what you’re after, trust me, it’s worth trying out! The coverage is INSANE which I wasn’t expecting whatsoever. It hides blemishes, scarring and probably your biggest secrets. I 100% recommend this foundation and if you haven’t tried it yet you definitely should! Let me know what you think of this foundation in the comments.

URBAN DECAY NAKED FLUSHED – NOONER REVIEW

Hey Everyone,

Finally the sun has arrived here in the UK and it’s about time! I was getting so sick of the cold and gloomy days, I just couldn’t find the energy to get things done. I’m excited to feeling more energised and motivated by this much nicer weather! Today, Im reviewing The Urban Decay Naked Nooner Palette*. This caught my eye back in December and I’ve been waiting to post about it for a while now so let’s get into it!

URBAN DECAY NOONER PALETTE

The packaging is super pretty and simple, similar to most of the Urban Decay Naked products. I love the reflective rose gold text on the grey, it really stands out and looks so nice in my collection. I also like that the packaging shows what the products look like too.

URBAN DECAY NOONER PALETTE

The actual palette itself it made from plastic – the expensive-feeling kind and it’s also got this grogeous sparkly/metallic sheen to it. Again, the rose gold writing stands out and I think this really emphasises that it’s more of a high-end product.

URBAN DECAY NOONER PALETTE

All of the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palettes contain three different shades of bronzer, highlighter and blusher. I chose Nooner as it contains the shades that I consider to be the most wearable for me. I love that there are three products fit into one palette as it makes this palette perfect for travelling and on-the-go makeup. Using one palette instead of three takes up so much less room in my makeup bag. I also really like that the products work well together, particularly the bronzer and the blusher as both give me such a healthy glow! The bronzer is generously sized, as is the blusher. I was lightly disappointed with how small the highlighter was however, I’m not a huge fan of it anyway so I’m not that fussed.

URBAN DECAY NOONER PALETTE

The bronzer is a fairly light shade but it’s definitely buildable. I like that it’s warm-toned as this suits my skintone best. It reminds me slightly of the Hoola Bronzer by Benefit actually. It gives me such a gorgeous healthy bronzed look. I can’t wait to use this in Summer and on holiday. The bronzer is also super easy to blend and apply and it doesn’t look muddy or patchy at all. It’s definitely not the most intense bronzer I’ve ever used but it’s perfect for the more natural looks that I like to create.

The blusher is such a pretty and flirty shade of pink. It’s buildable so you probably won’t go overboard in one sweep. I’ve always been quite timid with blusher so I was actually glad to find that this shade wasn’t too intense. This blusher looks so nice with Spring-themed outfits and makeup (pastels).

The highlighter is the most disappointing part of the palette. I understand that this palette is probably for natural makeup looks but it certainly didn’t need to be this basic. It’s more glittery and chalky than creamy which was really annoying. I don’t hate it, I just own better highlighters so I will probably use those. It’s a shame because it looked like the perfect champagne-shimmer shade! However, when I want something really subtle I think this will come in handy.

Overall, this palette isn’t the best but it also isn’t the worst. It’s definitely not for those that want something intense, I’d say it’s better for someone just getting started with makeup. It’s a nice palette, it’s just lacking in some areas, which isn’t what I would expect when it’s from Urban Decay. It’s also quite annoying that the three shades aren’t separated by anything as they tend to get mixed up sometimes and that can make it difficult to apply each product precisely to one part of the face. However, all three products in this palette are really easy to blend so any mistakes can quickly be fixed. I also love how easy it is to carry and it will make travelling with makeup so much easier. I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what you think of it in the comments as I love hearing from you!

MAKEUP REVOLUTION – CONCEAL AND DEFINE CONCEALER REVIEW, PHOTOS & SWATCHES

Hey Everyone,

I have another review for you today! This time I’m taking a look at the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer* which has become a bit of a hot topic within the beauty and blogging community. I was so excited to find this in my local Superdrug store as they’re pretty much ALWAYS out of stock and ordering online scares me incase I get the wrong shade. Either way, I ended up buying it and I thought a review would help the undecided out there.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION - CONCEAL AND DEFINE CONCEALER

MAKEUP REVOLUTION - CONCEAL AND DEFINE CONCEALER
If you haven’t heard already, the beauty community has been heavily debating whether or not this concealer is a dupe for the Taste Shape Tape. I haven’t tried that so I can’t draw a direct comparison, however, I’m personally interested in testing it out as a drugstore concealer as an alternative to the ones that I already love and use regularly. The packaging is a gorgeous metallic purple-pink colour which makes a change from the usual packaging brands seem to opt for (black lid, clear tube). It’s available in 18 shades (wow) and it was so easy to find the right one for my skin tone. If you’re panicking about which one would work best for you, check out the descriptions on the Superdrug website as Makeup Revolution have kindly explained the undertones in each shade.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION - CONEAL AND DEFINE CONCEALER
As you can see, the doe foot applicator is huge which I love as it means I can really make the most of the product whilst being able to get it where I need it to be in one clean swoop. ย  ย I prefer to blend it in with my beauty blender so that I get a nice flawless finish. I also find that on days where I don’t want or need full coverage, using a wet sponge can make it more sheer. I like to go back over it with a tiny bit of translucent powder or banana powder to brighten the area even more and to set it properly too.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION - CONCEAL AND DEFINE CONCEALER
I was actually surprised at how creamy the formula is, even though this is a full coverage concealer! I found it super easy to blend out and it doesn’t feel cakey whatsoever. It lasts all day and even managed to remain put during a 5 hour IKEA marathon. It’s probably worth mentioning that I also used their Pro Fix Fixing Sprayย for added protection! I can’t find any flaws with this product and I honestly think it’s one of the best drugstore concealers I’ve ever tried. The fact that it retails at only ยฃ4 is AMAZING too, as it makes it an affordable alternative to the ridiculously overpriced high-end products whilst also offering you the same high quality. I strongly recommend giving this fabulous concealer a try! Let me know what you think of it in the comments!

I HEART REVOLUTION – BRONZE & SHIMMER {REVIEW, SWATCHES & PHOTOS)

Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed anything from I Heart Revolutionย product, but I just had to share this one with you! I’m always looking to see what they’re bring out as they’re pretty much a conveyor belt of dupes. I have a bit of an obsession with bronzers and highlighters and I feel like I’ve tried my fair share of them, however I’m about to introduce you to my all time favourite…

Today, we’re talking about the I Heart Revolutionย Bronze and Shimmer duo. The adorable compact consists of a powder bronzer and highlighter to keep you glowing all day every day.

The packaging is adorable and matches the rest of their scrummy chocolate palette collection. Iโ€™m always impressed with their packaging actually! Considering that theyโ€™re a drugstore brand, the fact that theyโ€™re competing with the likes of Too Faced when it comes to branding, is pretty impressive, right? It only retails at ยฃ6 and let me tell you ladies and gents, may the makeup gods make us truly thankful.

The compact comes with a generously sized mirror which makes it perfect for on-the-go application and space-saving whilst travelling! Does anyone else end up packing way too much makeup in their suitcase or is it just me? Iโ€™m always looking for products that will take up less space to avoid the embarrassing weigh-in at the airportโ€ฆThe pans are really nicely sized too! Sometimes, when it comes to smaller compacts, the amount of product we get isnโ€™t great but thatโ€™s not the case here! On that note however, you may have noticed the bronzer pan is slightly bigger and I kind of wish it was the other way round. It may sound fussy but Iโ€™m actually in love with the highlighter so Iโ€™d happily bathe in it if possible. Both the bronzer and highlighter have a gradient so you can find the perfect shade for you within both pans! How handy is that?

The highlighter is just beautiful – itโ€™s the kind of shade I always go for as I think it compliments my skin-tone the most! I donโ€™t really go for the whole iridescent vibe so this is the closest I can get without catching the light and blinding people. Itโ€™s one of the only highlighters that sits perfectly on top of my foundation. I cannot believe it only costs ยฃ6. Itโ€™s currently my go-to even though I own some highlighters from high-end brands like Bobbi Brown and Urban Decay.

Yep. That’s it, I’m in love. I was already impressed just from looking at them, let alone after Iโ€™d done swatches. Itโ€™s probably worth noting that I barely even had to touch the pan in order to pick up a substantial amount of product, both are very pigmented! The bronzer provides the most gorgeous golden-brown glow for an all year round โ€œIโ€™ve just been on holidayโ€ look. Speaking of which, how stunning will it look in summer? Itโ€™s one hundred percent become my sparkling sunshine companion. To be honest, I reckon Iโ€™ll even wear it in Winter too. Itโ€™s at that time of year that my skin could do with a bit of a helping hand and I think this will make me look less white walker-like, you know? Iโ€™m all for a bronzer with a touch of sparkle to it as I find matte bronzers rarely work out for me and make me look muddy – if you know, you know. Also – it can be used as an eyeshadow, thank me later!ย

So, what do I think? In all honesty, I think this product is a 10/10. I can’t find anything wrong with it at all! It’s rare that I don’t have a criticism in some shape or form but this my friends, is perfection. If you want to glow like a lightbulb but you donโ€™t want to take out a loan, this is definitely one to consider. It’s affordable, the quality is insane and it’s giving those brands at the higher end of the price range something to lose sleep over. It’s often out of stock in Superdrug so I’d recommend ordering it online if you can!

Get the Bronze & Shimmer duo here

What do you think of this product? Have you tried it for yourself? Let me know in the comments. As usual, I’ve linked all of my social media so be sure to come and say hey!

PAPERGANG MARCH 2018: REVIEW

Hey Guys,

It’s been a while since I posted a Papergang review but I’m back with another one for you today! Sorry that this review is a bit late, I’ve been so busy over the Easter holiday!ย After last month I was really hoping this box would be a good one and I was pleasantly surprised. Below, I’ve written some information about Papergang and Ohh Deer so if you just want to read the review, keep scrolling!

Ohh Deer, a company I have SO much love for,ย was founded in order to allow illustrators and artists to showcase their work and find people that would be interested in buying their designs. The company sells the most amazing quirky and arty products โ€“ I simply canโ€™t get enough. I love the fact that Ohh Deer offers artists the opportunity to get noticed and therefore get something back for all their hard work that otherwise we might not have seen. Some of their clients include Paperchase, ASOS, John Lewisย andย Oliver Bonas (my all-time favourite shop) and some of their collections have been specifically designed for the Tate Galleries and the Science Museum!

WHAT IS PAPERGANG?

Ohh Deerย decided to create a monthly subscription service for stationery addicts, such as myself called,ย Papergang!ย Each month you will receive a box filled with brilliant papery goodies and desk accessories. Some examples are notebooks, greeting cards, wrapping paper and art prints. It costsย ยฃ10.95 and then a ยฃ2.95for shipping which in my opinion, after receiving their boxes, is a great deal. Every box has a different design and theme by a different artist and for every 4 boxes, 1 tree is planted in partnership with the fantastic charity, Tree aid. To find out more about their connection with this charity here.

I am a huge stationary addict and this subscription box is probably my favourite out of the many I am a part of. I always look forward to opening my box every month and using all my new bits and pieces! Most of the products you receive are exclusive the Papergang subscribers for a while before they get sold in Ohh Deerโ€™s shop.

As you can see, this month’s “box” was a tad different from the others. I usually expect a little box to arrive once a month so I was a bit shocked to find this HUGE package waiting for me when I got home. The packaging, although on the large side, is so lovely and the design is really cute and fun with lots of geometric trees and tiny foxes (LOVE these). This months box was designed by Peskimo. It started in 2004 and since then their designs, pins and prints have been extremely popular!

Every month, we receive a printed calendar as a bonus item and I absolutely love them! They’re perfect for keeping on my desk in a cute little frame. I reckon at the end of the year I’ll find a way to frame them all together, because they’re all just too nice to throw out!

A2 CAT NAPS ART PRINT – ยฃ12.95

I was so happy to see this gorgeous print in this month’s box. This explains the HUGE tube, which kept it in great condition thank god. Described as “Perfect for a crazy cat lady, doggo fan or kid’s bedroom.” it’s super fun and adds a bright pop of colour to any space. It was nice to receive a larger item this month and I’m always looking for prints to display in my flat or at home! ย I love the bright turquoise colour scheme (one of my favourite colours)

SKINNY PENCIL CASE – ยฃ9.95

I always love receiving pencil cases as I have a slightly ridiculous stationery collection and I’m constantly needing new things to store it all in. I love that this one is skinny too, so that it can fit into my bag for on the go notes/bullet-journalling. The little “foxy forest” print is so adorable too, it makes me happy just looking at it!

FOXY FOREST WASHI TAPE – ยฃ2.50

As you probably know already, I have a (verging on unhealthy) obsession with washi tapes and I literally cannot stop myself collecting them. Obviously I was delighted to find this cute little tape in my box! It features the same cute print as the pencil case as well. I can’t wait to use this in my bullet journal!

I really like this style of pen, it makes a change from my usual biros! Papergang have sent lots of pens like this in different boxes and I always look forward to receiving new ones. I love the print on this pen, it matches the poster/picture as well! I’ve been using this in my bullet journal and notebooks every single day. It’s definitely going straight into my “nice pens” pot – yes I have one of those sadly.

This month’s artistย Jacqueline Colley, brings us adorable doodles ofย Cadillacs, dinosaurs, cactuses and more in her Palm Springs range. Her use of bright and feminine colours are perhaps influenced by her background in women’s fashion. Jacqueline travelled to Palm Springs in 2016 and was inspired by the architecture and the cacti varieties – you can tell just from glancing at her prints!

Every month Papergang provides us with a little monthly calendar card. I absolutely love these as I stick them in a frame and theyโ€™re the perfect size for my desk! This month’s calendar features more illustrations from Jacqueline Colley, but with a succulent theme which I LOVE.

1 x A4 Deskpad – ยฃ7.95

I absolutely love desk organisers, I find them so helpful! I’m so much more productive when my tasks and notes are all laid out in front of me on something pretty and patterned compared to when I scribble them down on a post-it that is nowhere to be found a day later. These deskpads help me prioritise what tasks I need to complete and when I need to do them – a much needed service to my student self! I also love the doodles section as I am constantly doodling on notebooks and in margins so now I have o excuse to vandalise anything but this little section every week!

1 x Washi Tape – ยฃ2.50

I have quite the collection of wash tapes (check out my January Favourites post to see a few!) so I was super happy to find one of these in this month’s box! Jacqueline’s doodles are featured on this tape, including a flamingo pool float, a dinosaur and a variety of cacti! I use washing tape to make my notes stand out, to decorate scrapbook pages and to ย  ย make my bullet journal pretty!

1 x Pack of Stickers – ยฃ3.95

I’ve always loved stickers, as a little girl I used to put them on EVERYTHING. My walls, my drawers and even my bed frame! Now, I’m quite picky with them. However, these are ADORABLE. I absolutely love the warm toned illustrations on these and they make my bullet journal look so pretty and colourful. I’ve found myself using these more than I thought I would too! I’ve received sticker sheets in a few of my Papergang boxes and I’m yet to be disappointed!

1 x Pencil – ยฃ5.95

Back at home, we’ve always had those wind-up style pencils and I’ve always thought they ย looked a bit ugly and mechanical. I mean, they do the job but they don’t look pretty on my ย desk (haha yes, it’s the small things in life for me, I’m wild aren’t I?). I also tend to write with a finaliser or a black biro, however when I need to sketch, I need to use something that can be erased asap (my skills are next to none when it comes to drawing). I was delighted to find this pretty little pencil in this month’s box (might have something to do with the whole pink and rose gold design…). I also love the phrase engraved on it too! This idea of quirky messages on the sides of pens and pencils seems to be trending and I’m loving it! Last month’s box also had a set of three pens with little messages on too ย – check out my review here!

1 x Enamel Pin – ยฃ5.95

I’ve been meaning to stick some pins on my denim jacket for quite some time now and this made me actually do it. I was so excited when I saw this pin inside my January box, I literally went and stuck it on straight away! I think pins add a sense of identity and quirkiness to your clothes, especially if you want to make something look slightly different and more your own.

There wasn’t a single item in this month’s box that I was unsure about, I love everything. I also adore Jacqueline Colley’s illustrations and I’m more than happy to have them on my desk now! This box values at ยฃ21.30 and considering I paid ยฃ13.90 (monthly subscription fee and postage)ย That’s pretty awesome value!

We were given a choice between a 70s, 80s or 90s and I have to say it a was a tricky decision, they all looked so good! I opted for the 70s design, so my box is a real throwback with aย gorgeous retro floral print. Beauty is about the classic tips and tricks as well as trying out the latest trends so I’m loving this combination! I will definitely be keeping and re-using this box as it’s just too pretty to throw out.

THE BEAUTY CROP EYESHADOW

(FULL SIZE) The Beauty Crop Eyeshadow Trio – Love You So Latte – RRP ยฃ7

I love eyeshadow – I’m sure you’re aware of this by now, but I could honestly buy palettes every day if I had the funds! So when I saw this I was so excited to try it out. The trio includes two shimmers and one matte so it’s perfect for creating smokey and defined looks. I love how there’s a variety of shades in this little compact, as it means you can travel with it and still create a few different looks. The shadows are rich in caffeine and are packed with antioxidants to help brighten and tighten the skin, keeping your eyes bright and awake! I reckon these are flattering for any skin tone and eye colour too which is an added bonus to any product in the beauty community! These shadows are also vegan and cruelty-free with no sulphates or parabens too!ย It’s a shame the compact is so tiny but then again bigger palettes are harder to take on the go! The shimmer shadows were super pretty and creamy so they blended out well, however the matte brown shade was a bit harder to blend and swatched a little bit patchy.

(FULL SIZE) ModelCoยฎ – Crรจme Rouge – RRP ยฃ14

I love cream products. I use a dewy foundation so products with creamy formulas blend so nicely on top. I often use a cream contour, blusher and so this was immediately something I was interested in. This 2-in-1 formula can add a pop of pink to your cheeks and your lips. It’s so easy and creamy to blend so it adds a healthy and natural-looking tint and doesn’t look too heavy on the skin (my swatch was to test how pigmented it was, I obviously wouldn’t rock about with that much product on my face!). I like that you can choose exactly how much product you want too, depending on whether or not you want a brighter pop of red or a more subtle hint.

Percy & Reed – Quite Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish – RRP ยฃ10.

I’ve always liked Percy and Reed products, I think they’re really luxurious and also so beautifully presented and packaged. I was intrigued by this product as it claims to be a leave in polish, which isn’t something I would normally go for. However, the ends of my hair could definitely do with a bit of shine. The polish is packed with horse chestnut extract and sunflower wax to give soft and flexible hold whilst also hydrating your locks!

UPDATE – I tried this today and I absolutely loved how it made my hair feel. It smelt amazing and didn’t leave my hair feeling sticky or oily. I could definitely feel that something was there but it wasn’t noticeable at all! It made my hair look more alive and healthy which are the main things that I look for in hair products and treatments. I’ve received a lot of Percy and Reed stuff over time so if you would like a review let me know as I can definitely do one for you!

Luseta Beauty – ย Coconut Milk Hair Mask – RRP ยฃ26

I hadn’t heard of this brand before I received this month’s box so I was excited to try this product out! I have quite damaged hair as I tend to use a lot of heat-based tools (oops) and I’m always looking for something to revive it! This mask helps to restructure hair back to it’s original and healthy state. The coconut milk, rich in vitamins C, E, B1, B5 AND B6 adds moisture and conditions the hair to tackle any dryness. This mask is sulfate, phosphate, & paraben free too! I will keep you updated with this as I will be doing a hair pampering evening soon!

As a student, I don’t tend to get many full nights of sleep so any product that helps to disguise this is a godsend! This eye cream has a 3-in-1 formula smooths, softens and brightens (yes please) and it’s packed with chamomile, lemon, cucumber oil, witch hazel (one of my faves), anti-oxidant spruce knot, virgin coconut, reship oil and carrot oil (is there anything that isn’t in this product?!). My skin practically drinks this stuff ย up instantly and it leaves my eyes looking so much brighter!

Overall, I am really impressed with this month’s box. I love receiving boxes with a variety of products as after all, that is why I signed up for Birchbox in the first place! I really love that there was two full-sized products too as we usually only get one (which is still fab).ย Let me know if you are subscribed to Birchbox and what you thought of this box or if you are subscribed to any other beauty boxes, I would love to know!

Go ahead and use my link (here)ย to subscribe and you will get ยฃ5 off your first Birchbox!ย

MY TOP REVISION TIPS

Hey Everyone!

I hope you’re all doing well! I have survived school (GCSEs and A Levels) and one and half years of university (ish), so I would like to think I can give some decent advice when it comes to revision. However, everybody’s different and this means we all learn differently so what could work for me may be useless for you – don’t feel that you HAVE to do any of these, they’re just some things that have got me through those icky study periods.

START MAKING NOTES EARLY

For most of my exams (we’re talking GCSEs A levels and University) I have written my notes out early on in the term. I come home and write what I learned that day and that way it’s out of the way and you’ve gone over it at the same time. Two birds one stone right? I am also a bit of a perfectionist (when I say a bit I mean hours can go by and I still won’t think it’s neat enough) so starting early gives me time to be fussy and obsessive with colour coding and highlighting. I’ve definitely learned from leaving my notes until last minute and I would waste so much time making them look pretty that I barely had time to learn them! I like to use these packs of revision cards for all of my notes!

REMOVE PHONE/LAPTOP/TABLETS ETC NO TV OR MUSIC

I know this is such an obvious one but it’s true. I remember scowling as my parents and teachers lectured my year group about putting phones away but my God it makes a difference. I’m so much more productive without constant reminders that so and so favourited a tweet or that someone’s typing on snapchat – you’d have thought I didn’t need to figure this one out the hard way but hey ho. If you like to study with music, I would definitely recommend listening to instrumentals or music without actual lyrics because I have found myself writing down the lyrics to Thinking Out Loud as opposed to Freud’s Oedipus Complex, so cheers Ed, but not right now pal.

STICKY NOTES

I started using these last year as the amount I had to learn for first year was HUGE. I made maps on my wall using sticky notes and colour coded them to make it clear where everything was. I found this super helpful for learning dates! In the exam I was able to visualise the map and so the facts were easy for me to remember as I could still see them in my head! I love to use these post-it notes for my revision!

LEARNING IN CATEGORIES

With most of my modules or subjects there’s lots of tiny topics within these and sometimes it can be overwhelming when trying to get it all down and in one place. I recommend grabbing some small clear plastic wallets, (I use these) and using one per subject, that way everything is in sections and is organised. I find this really helps with making things easier to learn in chunks rather than as a huge great big pile of information.

COLOUR CODING

I learn from colour and I always have done, I’m not sure why but that seems to be how I work. I tend to colour code certain things, for example if I’m learning a theory, I will write it all in blue and then a different theory in red. This way, it seems clear to me what is associated with what and this stops me getting things muddled in exams which can be easily done if you’re stressed or panicking. I use a variety of pens but my favourites are the Maped Assorted FinelinersStaedler Fineliners and Crayola Supertips!

HIGHLIGHTING

I remember when I thought revising meant writing the whole page out from a textbook. DON’T DO THIS! It wastes so much time, you won’t be able to take it all in and it’s more than likely you only need a fraction of it actually written down. This is where highlighters come in super handy. You can write as much as you need to and still highlight the key points so they stand out to you on the page. I personally like to use the Stabilo Boss Original Highlighters and also their pastel range of highlighters.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANYONE NOT DOING ANYTHING – PARENTS/FLATMATES/BROTHERS/SISTERS/ANYONE

Last year I was in a flat of 6 people so I was asking everyone to test me which helped loads. I also absolutely rinsed my dad during my study weeks. We would sit down for hours going over the same stuff to the point where he knew it too so he could help me revise. I would learn some of my revision cards and then give them to him to ask me about. This helped so much and we wouldn’t give up until I knew everything.

WASHI TAPE

I love using these to decorate my work, bullet journal and scrapbook pages. They’re so cheap and easy to get hold of too. I tend to buy mine from Etsy or Amazon but I’ve found a few in craft shops and stationery shops too! There’s also a photo (scroll up) where you can see I’ve put tape at the top of my revision cards. I find this helps with colour coding everything and keeping organised as well as making it all look nice too!

EAT PROPERLY

I honestly didn’t think much of this until last year. The difference in my productivityย and motivation between when I was bingeing on snacks and crisps and eating proper meals everyday was HUGE. I was able to concentrate for longer and I didn’t crave any snacks. I also noticed that I lost weight too when I wasn’t snacking constantly (surprise). A great alternative so salty snacks are edamame beans! You can get them in little pots ready to fry up – they’re one of my faves!

Did you find these tips helpful? What helps you with revision? Let me know in the comments! I hope this post helped some of you that are preparing for exams, I know I will be working hard over the next few months as exams are fast approaching (no thanks). If any of you have exams soon, good luck and let me know how they went!

BIRCHBOX JANUARY 2018: OHH DEER – REVIEW

Birchbox isย a UK beauty subscription service that sends beauty boxes to their subscribers containing 5 goodies every month. You don’t have to worry about lifelong commitments or any contracts, you can cancel anytimeย with a monthly subscription – no fuss whatsoever! The monthly subscription costs only ยฃ10 per month! You can edit your beauty profile on their site in order to ensure you get sent products that are suitable for your skin/hair type and personal preferences. Birchbox is so great for discovering new brands and products. I have been subscribed to Birchbox for over a year now and I look forward to receiving their boxes every month.ย I’ve gone on to buy lots of the things I’ve received because I have loved them so much. Every box you receive is beautifully packaged, some months are designed and inspired by artists and companies. I use some of the older boxes to store makeup in too as the designs are too pretty to throw away!

This month’s beautiful box is in collaboration with the British stationery gods over at ‘Ohh Deer‘. I absolutely bloody love this company – I’m even subscribed to their stationary subscription service too (clickย hereย for my November Papergang box review).

The January Birchbox is a pretty good mixture of skincare and makeup. This month seemed to have less well known brands than some of the other months, but the products are still all lovely.ย We were also given a cute little sheet of stickers too which I’m loving as they’re perfect for putting in my bullet journal/blog planner.

2DB05A3D-68FD-42B0-803F-93A3854258D3.JPG(FULL SIZE) Lord & Berry – Blusher Crayon in Peach : RRPย ยฃ8

First up we have a crayon blusher. I picked this last month in advance (Birchbox usually offers this for every box – you can pick one of two products) because I knew it would be a good colour for more summery makeup looks. At first I was a bit terrified when I swatched this because I’d gotten so used to wearing dark coloured makeup over the Winter months but I reckon it’ll be an easy transition once Spring arrives (asap please because I’m fed up of it getting dark by 4 o’clock). I also like that it’s super creamy in it’s consistency so it’s easy apply and to blend in. I wasn’t sure about the whole ‘crayon’ idea however it’s meant I’ve been able to put the blusher exactly where I want it. I use a dewy foundation anyway so I prefer makeup that glides onto my face rather than putting something powdery or dry on top of it. I’ve also always loved using peachy/coral coloured lip and cheek products during Summer so I will definitely be keeping this around to test whilst I’m on holiday! It will definitely save me some space in my makeup bag as I won’t need to carry a whole compact and a brush. If this product takes your fancy, get yourself one here.

B6006850-1957-4879-8D5A-436A0AEB6EF5.JPGMarcelle – Waterproof Eyeliner in Charcoal : RRPย ยฃ10.99

I always forget how much of a difference eyeliner makes. I keep thinking ” Something doesn’t look right, what’s missing ?” and it’s alwaysย eyeliner! This product really excited me as it’s waterproof. I hate getting panda eyes a few hours into my day or after a sobbing through an episode of Grey’s Anatomy so I tend to look for waterproof products – especially when it comes to eye makeup. This eyeliner stays put and doesn’t budge for a good few hours, I only had to touch it up once in a whole day – very impressed! Grab one here!

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetThermalivNight Cream : ยฃ21

I have always loved night creams, masks and treatments as they’re so simple and easy to use. Just plonk them on and all you have to do is go to sleep to wake up feeling fresh faced and ready to go. This product contains sea chamomile and vitamin E which leaved the skin feeling nourished and plump. It is quite pricey though so I’m not sure if I would buy the full sized version once this sample has run out. However, if this sounds like something you’d be interested, you can get yourself one here!

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetPaul & Joe Beauty – Moisturising Foundation Primer in 01 Drageeย : RRPย ยฃ24

I’ve recently started using primers and I’ve really noticed a differenced in how my makeup applies once it’s on. It makes such a good base for my foundation so I was super pleased to see this product in this month’s box. This primer is enriched with botanical extracts providing extra moisture for your skin as well as having a subtle gold shimmer that creates a healthy and dewy look which I am all about. I really recommend this product, so if you want to check it out, you can do so here!

AFTERSPAAfterspaAmazing Makeup Remover : RRP ยฃ5.50ย

I cannot get over how unbelievably soft this product is. It removes any kind of makeup including mascara and waterproof eyeliner – SAY WHAT? It isn’t necessarily as easy as a makeup wipe but it certainly saves you some dosh given it apparently lasts up to 1,000 washes! All you have to do is soak it in warm/hot water and you’re ready to go. It’s a great idea plus it also is a great option for people that have sensitive skin. Grab it here if you want to check it out for yourself!

Overall I think this box is great value for money. One of the products is full sized and it costs ยฃ15 – whereas the box itself costs ยฃ10. I think there was a good mixture of skincare and makeup in this month’s box
