Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! Welcome to Blogmas Day 5! Today’s post is an updated version of my MAC lipstick collection! You all seemed to love last year’s so I thought I would turn it into a Blogmas tradition and show you my newest additions.

When it comes to lipstick, I rarely venture beyond the realms of MAC Cosmetics. I’ve tried looking for dupes and I’m yet to find anything that ticks all of the boxes. I fell in love with their iconic and sleek black packaging and there’s no going back now! I can appreciate that at £15 (roughly) they’re pretty pricey and understandably for some that can be offputting. However, they regularly have sales with huge discounts plus they are now available on ASOS, so with student discount, you can grab yourself a bargain! I tend to buy their lipsticks gradually, so that I can save up and treat myself when I most need it.

Taupe

This was the first MAC lipstick that I ever had. It was given to me as a gift and I think it was the reason that I got hooked! Taupe is a warm, muted brown shade with a matte finish. It’s so pigmented, which is why I’m still not even halfway through, as I only seem to need the tiniest amount! I particularly love wearing it during Autumn as it’s got some warm colour undertones but it’s also quite dark. It also carries me through to Winter, with it’s cinnamon-like undertones. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know how much I love to wear warm toned eyeshadow, so Taupe ties in perfectly!

See sheer

See Sheer is one of MAC’s lustre lipsticks and it’s a warm coral, almost grapefruit pink. I felt like I was really branching out with this shade when I bought it. I used to go for nudes and neutrals so this was a step out of my comfort zone! I find that it adds a perfect pop of colour and really brightens up my face, which comes in handy when my skin is as dull as dishwater during Winter. It glides on, providing sheer to medium coverage, but it’s definitely buildable! I just love the formula as it’s so creamy and moisturising and it’s so easy to apply. It doesn’t last all day, but I don’t mind reapplying it every now and again.

Velvet Teddy

Everyone was raving about this lipstick – I have a feeling it has something to do with Kylie Jenner, and before I knew it, I had bought it! This time last year, Velvet Teddy was my favourite matte lipstick and as you can see from the photos above, it’s looking pretty well loved! I don’t use it anywhere near as much, but I do still love it. It’s a warm brown with a red undertone – perfect for autumn! Although it has a matte formula, it’s not drying whatsoever. I usually never have to touch it up either as it stays on all day!

Cosmo

Cosmo is probably one of the lipsticks that I wear the most. It’s a warm peachy pink with brown undertones and it’s a great one for pairing with simple everyday looks. I just love the glossy satin finish and the way that it adds a subtle pop of pink – not too much! I tend to wear this everyday to uni as it’s glides on quickly and isn’t high maintencance once I have it on.

Muscu-linity

I managed to get hold of Muscu-linity, in last year’s Black Friday clearance, so unfortunately it’s no longer available to purchase. It’s a warm but muted beige-brown and it has a sheer finish. Again, I love the glossy look of this formula – it’s a great one for summer as it compliments my tan. It also keeps my lips looking hydrated too.

Testosterone

I also picked up Testosterone in the Black Friday sale last year, so it’s no longer available now, but still there’s lots of alternatives to choose from. It’s a gorgeous warm coral shade and I’ve been obsessed with it during Winter. It adds a pop of vibrant, glossy colour to my lips without going too overboard, which is exactly what I love on those days where I’m not quite feeling a red yet. The finish is so dewy and creamy, it’s got to be one of my favourite formulas.

Patisserie

Patisserie is one of my newest lippies from MAC! I absolutely love this shade – it’s a neutral pink with a hint of brown – making it my perfect natural shade. I wear this one all year round, on any ocassion and it always pulls through! If you’re looking for a classic staple to add to your collection – this would be it.

Spirit

Spirit is a pinky-warm brown with a satin finish. It’s rich in colour and dries semi-matte and still leaves my lips feeling moisturised. I love wearing this colour during the sunnier months for a less intense and more natural look. I tend to pair Spirit with bold eye makeup if I want the focus to be on my eyes.

Retro

My dad gave me Retro for Christmas and it’s now one of my go-to Winter shades! It’s a beautiful warm plum shade – perfect for any festive functions! It’s a great transition shade from Autumn to Winter as it’s not quite a full on red and it still has some subtle brown undertones to tide you over.

Persistence

Persistence might just be the perfect Autumnal shade ever. It’s a warm, peachy-brown cinnamon shade with a matte finish. I always opt for matte shades in Autumn as that’s usually the time of year that I’m snacking and drinking the most coffee (deadlines and stressv do this to me) so I want my lipstick to stay put.

Welcome to Blogmas Day 1! I can’t believe we’re already here, it seems like yesterday that I was writing last year’s Blogmas content. I thought I would kick it all off with a post about my favourite lipsticks to wear over the festive period. It’s like I evolve from being nude and neutral-loving to dark and dramatic in the space of a season. I used to practically sprint away from anything red and now it’s a totally different story!

MAC – Retro

First up, we have Mac’s Retro. My dad actually bought me this one last Christmas! This tends to be my transition lipstick from Autumn to Winter. It’s a muted peachy-pinky brown so I’m still getting to wear something that I’m used to but at the same time it’s darker than my usual go-to shades. I love that it has a satin finish to it as it’s non-drying but still really pigmented. A cheaper dupe for this is Sephora’s Labyrinth City!

Illamasqua – Vixen

This is the beautiful Vixen in Illamasqua’s Lava Lips range! I originally picked it up because I was so intrigued by the marbled design however, upon trying it out, it quickly became one of my Winter favourites. The colours blend so well together to create a vibrant and intense pinky-red. It’s slightly different every time I use it and that’s why I love it! The finish, again, is satin, which keeps my lips feeling soft and moisturised. The packaging is also so sophisticated and sleek – I love everything about this lipstick! I can’t find any dupes for this as it’s just so unique!

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Rogue

Here we have one of Anastasia Beverly Hill’s matte lipsticks in the shade Rogue. It’s a dark brownish red that fulfils all my festive lipstick desires! It has warm undertones, which is why I enjoy wearing it at this time of year. It may be frosty outside, but my lips will stay rosy for as long as possible thank you very much. Not only is it really pigmented, but it’s ultra-matte formula ensures that it stays on all day.

Urban Decay – Plaid

This is one of Urban Decay’s lipsticks from their Vice range in the shade Plaid. I chose it because at this time of year I can’t resist deep berry tones! It’s a cool pinky-red with a sheer finish so it’s hydrating and always makes me look so healthy! Although the texture is quite thin, it’s still pigmented and it’s buildable if I ever wanted something slightly more intense.

MAC – Persistence

A Peachy cinnamon shade, absolutely perfect for this time of year! It’s also perfect for anyone that doesn’t want to wear anything really dark or dramatic. It has warm, reddish-orange undertones, so although it’s almost a brown, it’s actually really flattering on and I’m still staying within my comfort zone! I love a matte lip in Winter too, especially with the amount of hot chocolates I get through every day, I need something that doesn’t budge! However, it can be a tiny bit drying, so I always make sure my lips are moisturised before applying it.

I’m super excited for this post as I’m reviewing the new Soph X Revolution palette and her new lipsticks! I ordered them as soon as they were released as I just knew they would all be amazing. I’m also a huge fan of Sophie and her channel so I was more than happy to support her with this! Some of you may have read my review of her first palette but if you haven’t you can read that here. Either way, I’m too excited to keep talking any longer so bring on the review!

The packaging is pretty much a the opposite version of her first palete, this time with the case being rose gold and the palette itself being a matte nude/pink shade. It retails at £10 (wow) The lipsticks are also a new addition to this collaboration – I totally wasn’t expecting these! There are three in total, all creamy satin nudes and they retail at £4 each.

This packaging, as you probably know is just SO ME! I absolutely love anything rose gold, so I’m considering framing it to be honest. It’s so pretty and sleek looking that I can’t wait to put it on my dressing table so I can see it every day! I love that she’s been able to create a second palette and I would honestly keep buying them if she brought out another ten. Soph said she wanted to create something that could be the “extra spice” in someone’s makeup collection and I reckon she’s done just that. I can see myself using this palette every day and it just stands out from everything else I own.

So this palette features 18 shades and JUST LOOK AT THEM – I cannot get over how stunning these colours are and there’s such a great variety! Soph picked every shade and named them herself! I love that each shade means something different to her and that the whole palette is a reflection of her personality. There’s a mixture of 6 shimmers and 12 mattes in this palette so there’s plenty to choose from! Compared to her previous palette, it’s definitely a bit more bold and vibrant however it still has a very generously sized mirror! Can we also talk about that fact that she definitely took on board our feedback and added labels to each shade within the palette! I love that, as I’m forever losing those plastic sheets that come with the names on.

Every Day – A duo-chrome pale purple with a white/iridescent shift – Super pigmented and creamy
Running Late – A matte orange with a light brown undertone – My kind of transition shade
Infinity – A silver/metallic shimmer – WOW, this is so pigmented and buttery
Cheesecake – A matte chesnut brown with red undertones – A great shade for a smokey eye
Cookie Dough – A matte soft/light brown – Another good one for transitioning
Dreams – A warm copper shimmer – So creamy and smooth, extremely pigmented

Vitamin C – A bright matte yellow – The only shade I’m disappointed with, I just found this was too patchy and the colour pay off wasn’t great
Sweet n Sour – A warm matte orange – I can’t wait to use this for summery makeup looks
Twenty One – A cherry pink with red undertones – I’ve never used a more pigmented pink/red, this is incredible
Romance – A rich burgundy shimmer with a pink shift – I think I’m in love, this might well be my favourite shade in the palette
Enchanted – A matte purple with red wine-type undertones – This is such an interesting shade, it kind of reminds me of “Rowdy” in the Subculture palette!
Lakes – A matte olive/khaki green – Given that 90% of my wardrobe is khaki this is bound to come in handy

Brownies – A very deep brown with purple undertones – Again, this was a tad patchy but with a few layers it builds up
Chocolate Orange – A warm brown with red undertones – I love shades like this for every day simple looks
Mulled Wine – A matte Ribena Purple – This shade is so vibrant and bright, it’s such a great shade for anyone into bold looks (aka me most of the time)
LA Sun – A bright gold shimmer – Bloomin’ heck these shimmers are all just incredible, this one in particular is something else!
Aurora – An olive/khaki shimmer – It’s like shrek met a disco ball, I am loving this shade however it wasn’t as creamy as the other shimmers in the palette, it took a few swatches
Reputation – A matte charcoal black – I’m so glad she included a matte black shade again as I don’t own one and I always seem to end up needing it! It’s also great for really dramatic looks too!

Soph x Revolution Lipstick Review, Swatches & Photos

So, there’s three gorgeous nude shades in this collection. From top to bottom we have, Syrup, Fudge and Cake. Below, I’ve reviewed them all separately so keep scrolling!

Syrup – This is the kind of nude that most people could pull off. It’s a very simple brown nude, which typically I would run away from but I because of the creamy satin texture and finish, I’m absolutely loving it! I love that it’s so soft and silky on the lips too, as I hate anything drying and sometimes pale nudes can have “foundation lip” look to them which is a no from me but this bad boy is a 10/10 on that front.

Soph x Revolution Fudge Lipstick Review, Swatches & Photos

Fudge – This is a darker nude to Syrup and I was originally kind of terrified of this shade as it looked so so dark. However, upon trying it on it didn’t swatch that way whatsoever! It actually came up on me as a kind of dark orange nude which I really like! I’d suggest swatching it before buying it just to double check it’s what you think it is as it will probably look very different on different skintones! Either way I love it and I reckon I will be wearing this shade A LOT during Autumn.

Soph x Revolution Cake Lipstick Review, Swatches & Photos

Cake – This is by FAR my absolute favourite lipstick in the collection. It’s pretty much your basic pink nude. I can tell this will be an everyday product for me and I actually prefer it to a majority of my high-end lipsticks which is crazy considering I only paid £4 for it?! It’s kind of giving me Velvet Teddy vibes, anyone else?

Overall, I am EXTREMELY impressed with this collection. Soph has given us another fantastic palette along with three beautiful nude lippies. Firstly, the palette is an absolute dream. There are some things that I would change however, like the pigmentation of Vitamin C and Aurora as I think they could both be even better. That being said, the other 16 shades are honestly very very good. The quality of the packaging is also amazing. The shimmers are so buttery and creamy and the mattes are super easy to blend out. I would easily pay £20 for this palette let alone the £10 that it actually retails at (wowza). The lipsticks are equally as fabulous too. I don’t know what they used to make them but I’ve never used anything that buttery or creamy before and there’s just no going back now! It’s safe to say that I am now a brown lippie convert. I would really recommend trying these out!

BLOGMAS DAY 7

Before I begin, I just want to say a massive thank you for the support you have given me for my last post, it’s been so overwhelming. I can’t explain how much it meant to me to receive messages and comments from people I’ve known for years and also people I’ve never met saying how much the post helped them or how it had opened their eyes which was exactly my intention. Once again, thank you so so much x

My MAC lipstick collection has grown a fair bit this year and I thought I would share my favourite lippies with you! Arguably, MAC’s lipsticks are what they are most well known for and that’s how I was drawn in. They usually retail at around the £15 mark which can be pricey for some so I will also be doing a drugstore favourites post for Blogmas so some more affordable alternatives will be included within that! However, I would really recommend keeping an eye on the MAC sales as they sometimes sell amazing products at reduced prices and they go really quickly!

This is my favourite lipstick. It’s matte and it’s nude – what more could a girl want?! I always say I’m going to wear more red lipstick every year but it never happens, I always drift back towards more neutral tones. I’m not sure when the craze for this shade started but I totally understand why now! Velvet Teddy is a deep-toned beige and is one of the best nude matte lipsticks that I have ever tried. It stays on for hours and dries smoothly without completely drying me out. I wear this pretty much every day.

This is one of two darker lipsticks that I wear and I’m not sure you could even call this “dark” actually. I would describe the shade as a warm coral. This lipstick has the most beautiful semi-sheer and almost wet look finish to it which normally I wouldn’t opt for but I’ve really warmed to it! It makes my lips look super smooth and dewy which is great for when I feel like a prune during winter! I was lucky enough to grab this in the Black Friday sale for roughly £11. It’s unfortunately not available to buy online anymore but they could bring it back, you never know!

I also bought Muscu-linity in the Black Friday sale hence why it looks so shiny and new! It’s a muted beige-brown and because it’s one of MAC’s lustre lipsticks, it has a gorgeous natural sheen to it. Although it’s not as pigmented as some of my other lipsticks, it’s definitely buildable if you want more coverage. It doesn’t stay on as long as a matte lipstick either, however, as it’s not your typical ‘high-maintenance’ colour, it’s easy to quickly top up on when you’re on the go. Unfortunately, this is also not available online.

This was actually my first MAC lipstick, kindly bought for me by my boyfriend as a gift to cheer me up and that, it certainly did! Taupe is a warm brown shade and it’s in the MAC matte lipstick range. It’s a gorgeous nude that I found to be perfect for autumn. It’s really pigmented and long lasting which I also love if I’m wearing it on a night out.

Spirit is a pinky-warm brown with a satin finish. It’s rich in colour and dries semi-matte and still leaves my lips feeling moisturised. I love wearing this colour during the sunnier months for a less intense and more natural look.

Mocha is a peachy-brown shade and I absolutely love it. It’s probably my second favourite lipstick that I own. The pinky undertones make it a more healthy looking nude shade in the sense that it doesn’t wash me out. I also think that it’s a shade that can be worn all year round as it’s hydrating for Winter and gives a gorgeous dewy look for Summer!

Diva is a pretty bold choice for me as it is an intense reddish-burgundy. Surprise surprise, it’s another matte lipstick! I originally thought it would make me look washed out, however with a bit of bronzer and blush, I’m good to go. It’s such a great shade for Autumn and Winter.

I’ve always enjoyed being nosey and seeing what other people have in their makeup bags etc or what collections they own so I thought why not try a post of that kind myself? I hope you guys enjoyed this post, I’m sure in a years time, I will have added a few more to the collection so another post may be necessary!
